Weekly Parent Update, May 28, 2019
Kindergarten Parents and Families,
Happy Memorial Day!
I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day with family and friends. Today we as the country come together to honor and remember our servicemen and women who answered America's call to service and paid the ultimate price. Memorial Day is the time for Americans as one body to stand up and say, “Thank you. We remember you. We are grateful to you.”
We have enjoyed our very last full week with our kindergarten students! We can’t believe this is the last Friday and final weekly update! It was a pleasure partnering with you this year to ensure your child’s academic success! Please know that if you have any comments or questions, we are available to you!
Updated Address
Please send us your updated address, so we can ensure a prompt postcard is delivered to you from your child’s first grade teacher with Open House information. If you happen to move over the summer, please call the front office with your new information.
REMINDER: Last Day of School – Early Release
The last day of school is on May 29th and will be an early dismissal at 1:00 pm. Students must pack a lunch as lunch will not be provided. ALL students must bring a lunch from home. Thank you!
Homework: Summer Enrichment Packet/Summer Survival Kits
The kindergarten and first grade teams worked together to provide enrichment activities to prevent the summer slide and prepare your child for the upcoming school year!
Summer Slide
The summer slide is a decline in reading ability and other academic skills that can occur over the summer months when school isn't in session. Numerous studies show that kids who don't read during summer vacation actually slip in reading ability by the time autumn rolls around.
Reading Logs
The last reading log on the school year is in your child’s folder! Please remember that reading each night and recording on the reading log is an expectation. This is also recorded as a grade. Students are only required to read the days we are in school. We will be collecting the reading logs on the last day of school.
Report Cards
The final report card will only be available online. To access your child’s report card you must create an account. Go to http://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/ and click on the parents tab. On the right hand side you will see the Parent Links, under Academic, click Check Grades/Attendance. From here you will see a yellow LINK button. Follow the directions to create an account.
Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Teachers-
Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Intzes, and Mrs. Stoddard
